Great for well water with suspended solids

Use as a secondary filter for my well water source. It catches remaining fine sludge and other particles, but I'm still struggling with dissolved particles (iron, etc.) that the filter isn't designed to remove.

  • Feels good

Solid solution to rotten egg smell in well water - Previously

So far, so good. We installed it a few weeks ago to replace a large GAC backwash filter to remove hydrogen sulfide in our well water. It eliminated the odor completely (just as effectively as our larger, more complex filter). If it lasts as long as advertised, it will be a solid solution.

  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Negative impression

Great filter! for replacement under sink water filter

This filter filters water very well. The filter I had before didn't work well and I could see debris in the water. There is no bad smell and the water doesn't taste bad even though I use my Jacuzzi fridge to drink the water. So overall I think this filter is pretty good so far! Will update this review after 5 months. Stay where you are!

Activated Carbon Filter plus Sediment

This is the best filter I have ever used in my entire home filter. It catches small particles and releases almost nothing into the pre-filtered water. I use it as the first filter and use Pentek 2501 as the last filter. The activated carbon filter significantly affected the amount of sediment that reached the final filter. The incredible difference in water quality justifies the price.

  • Handsome
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Works well for foul smelling water and sediment.

We love this activated carbon filter. He captured a lot of iron and sediment. We had a bad smell in the water and after installing this filter it was clear within a day. I don't think it will completely replace an entire home water system, but it doesn't cost $3,500 either. I have to change this filter more than one just for the sake of the sediment so the water doesn't get smelly and turn black in the lines. Let's see how it goes in the next six months.

  • Fingers crossed

  • Everything great

Works quite well as a sole filtration solution for fountains

Over the years I have used a variety of Pentek filters in my fountains. This year I decided to try the carbon block filters, although I did notice a change in the taste of the water, I also noticed a significant drop in pressure fairly early in the life of the filters. Until I tried this one. My fountain has quite a lot of deposits, mostly rust and small particles. This filter held up about as well as the regular sediment cartridges I used. Of course, YMMV depends on how you're doing and whatโ€ฆ

THAT DOES NOT WORK! for replacement water filter

BUYER WARNING I bought these filters and have not been able to use them until today (February 18th). I wanted to use these filters to replace my regular GAC BB filters. As usual, I did everything I could to install a filter in my system, but the filter couldn't build up enough pressure to force water through it. I tried the second filter I bought and the same result. I even soaked the filter in water for half an hour to see if that helped. The problem seems to be that the filter floats in theโ€ฆ

Works to a predictable point

These filters are designed to remove chlorine and filter sediment with 'conditional' reference to other 'smells and tastes'. There is specific performance data for the first two, not the last which includes H2S. However, this filter gave me about 5,000 gallons of decent, but not ideal, H2S performance for my well water. It's about 3 months. So for around $25 I can live with a slight sulfur smell every now and then. I first tried the standard Pentek GAC 10BB and in fact, while it was initiallyโ€ฆ

great filter - replacement under sink water filter

The water in my well is crystal clear now. I used to use a pleated cartridge filter for the whole house along with a Brita drinking water filter. The pleated filter lasted 2-3 months but I still needed a razor to get the metallic taste out of the faucet. When I switched to this activated carbon filter, I no longer had to filter my drinking water. I can't yet say how long this filter will last since I've just started using it, but I can say my tap water is clean with no noticeable pressure drop.

  • replacement under sink water filter

  • so far so good

Non-Filter Odor - Updated

I've been using this brand of filters for a few years now and last week I replaced the old filter because the water was turning cloudy but still no smell. I put a new filter in and the water stinks so badly that for some reason it doesn't filter the odor. I left it running when I changed the filter as usual but after a week the smell is still bad. What is this filter about? Now I need to find another brand to use! I am buying these filters two at a time and on my most recent order of twoโ€ฆ
