Great for Events: Portable Audio & Video

Just received my second set of 20 with no packaging. Bought 20 about a year ago to provide coordination and security at scouting events. There were old Cobra and Midland radios that fell apart for years. The first set of 20 was so well received that we got a second set this year and all the old ones will be removed. The price is great, less than $12 for a radio. Ease of use is my biggest plus. With previous radios, people who didn't use them every day kept pressing buttons on the front, changing stations, going into privacy mode, and finding another weird mode they couldn't get out of. It's very simple, volume on/off and a station selector that tells you out loud what channel you're on, pretty much something for the user to mess up. Regarding some issues/questions I had, the customer support (Angela) was phenomenal, not only for these radios but also for other Retevis models I've bought for myself. Replacement parts and accessories seem readily available. We bought extra batteries and the charging cradle can charge the batteries when not connected to the radio so you always have a few fresh ones on hand. The only limitation I have is that they are not configured to work with free FRS/GMRS. frequencies. They all work together out of the box, but not with other radios that other people might take with them. They're relatively easy to reprogram, however, and the 20-pack comes with the necessary cable and software. Once you have all the channels set up in the software you can save this set for future use and it takes less than 30 seconds to reprogram them for each radio. There is another open source software called CHIRP that you can find online that supports these radios (and many more) and offers a bit more flexibility than the Retevis app for those who want it. In any case, you should reprogram your radios to stay kosher and not operate on frequencies you shouldn't be on without realizing it.
