Good range of colors for the most part, not DK

This thread set has a good range of colors for beginners, although I got 2 shades of gray instead of a blue. This isn't DC's weight! Beware. This is "aran" weight 4. As for "cotton", it looks more like acrylic, but how should I know? It feels velvety. A few tears, some scraps in the strand but overall good value for money. I'm making a granny square handbag and was hoping for something like Yarn 24/7 (see photo). Compared to Lion Brand's 24/7 yarn, which is a weight class 4, it is much thicker and fluffier. But it will cost.
