Review on Tripp Lite DisplayPort Switch B005 DPUA2 K by Robert Ryokan

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Excellent KVM, use 8k cable with 5k2k to DisplayPort with 4 lanes x 8 gig

This KVM is a bit imprecise in the documentation which is why some people are having trouble with it. I have a much higher end KVM which I replaced with this Tripp Lite model thinking it might perform better. It's better in every way. But you need to know how accurate is DP 1.4 through KVM. Tips for getting the best results with this KVM: Use much higher quality DP cables than you think. Standard DP cables do not work well with DP-KVM. I used 8k Revain cables for this and they work great. Any standard or inferior cable would immediately cause problems with the display signal at higher resolutions. If you have a fancy keyboard or mouse, they may have features that will not work with the keyboard and mouse ports on the BACK of the device. I've found that my Das keyboard and Logitech mouse work MUCH better with a regular front USB port. If you don't like the mouse screen switching feature, you can "disable" it by connecting a mouse to the front of the device. Not back. I prefer to use the small radio remote control myself, one click and it's really easy. Sound is VERY sensitive to interference. I've found this to be true for many KVMs. For this reason, I gave up the audio functions in KVM a long time ago. Take a USB audio dongle and plug it into the front panel, then plug your speakers or headphones into it. Works much better than messy 3.5mm audio cables. Therefore, in my final configuration, only USB and DP cables are connected to the back of the device. The front USB has a mouse, keyboard and USB audio output adapter. Then simply use the remote control to switch between ports. Everything works as expected. The safe power connection is a nice touch!
