I am an analog watch lover. I refused to give up real clock hands and the classic look. I also refuse to be a slave to a night loading job that requires me to take off my watch. However, I watched wistfully as other smartwatch wearers glanced at their wrist for an unheard text notification or to check their heart rate. Why can't I have both!?! - Well, as luck would have it, Fosil must have read my mind! This watch gives me the best of both worlds. Analog hands are always nearby, they work like clockwork. The time is set by pairing the watch and phone, so I know it will always be accurate. The arrows light up pretty well, so night vision is usually available. When I need to read more than just the time at night, double-tapping the screen brings up a bluish light for about 10 seconds, allowing me to view messages or settings. The battery is excellent and still shows almost half the charge remaining after 12 days of continuous wear and use. I shower with it every day and have had no problems with water. When you receive a text message, the arrows will temporarily move to 9 and 3 for smooth browsing. Various configurations are available for the face, and you can also use a photo as the background. The screen has simple black pixels (think calculator style), so don't expect much in that regard. In general, the parameters and functions of the face are rather limited and simple. This isn't trying to be an Apple Watch, so don't try to compare them. This is a great analog watch that can also notify and display your messages, as well as track your heart rate and sleep patterns. If you've always wanted a real watch with smartwatch capabilities, this is the one for you! The watch strap can be removed with a simple push of the clasp, making it very easy to switch between different strap styles. The phone app is a bit basic and doesn't offer many options, but it lets me choose which apps I want to receive notifications and logs my heart rate and sleep information. While I don't really have any inside knowledge of this, I suspect he added some extra features to the app / watch from Fossil across the board. I've worn two different $350 civilian watches in the last 8 years and I feel like I'm still wearing the same watch, only now with secret smartwatch features. Same side, weight and style I'm used to. I am very satisfied with this watch and can only recommend it.
