Review on ๐Ÿš— Enhanced Delphi SS10814 Camshaft Sensor for Improved Engine Performance by Jeffrey Sanders

Not reliable on BMW Z3, โ€‹โ€‹buy a spare part for BMW.

This sensor will not work reliably on a 2001 BMW Z3 2.5i. I've found a number of websites warning against using sensors from other manufacturers, but I haven't listened to their advice. I thought Delphi was a good name (and it generally is) and tried to save money by buying this replacement for my machine. My sensor was completely defective so installing this replacement restored controllability and made me think it was working most of the time. However, I still had occasional starting problems, noticeable acceleration sluggishness, and the occasional P0340 code. They were intermittent, some days everything worked fine. I have since replaced the sensor with a genuine BMW part and all of these issues have gone away. The car starts quickly and every time the power is steady and increasing, and no more codes. I can't say if this sensor will work on other engines, but based on my experience and what I've read on the BMW forums, don't buy it for the BMW M54 engine. And if you see the above symptoms, buy BMW parts and you will love your car again.
