Nowhere in the product description or photos does it state or show how short the thread is that connects to the box that contains this star. Our tree is about 7 feet tall; My height is 5 feet 4 inches. The button that turns this topper on is on the top of the box - it's very inconvenient, if not impossible, to turn on the light, so we'll have to settle for an unlit star. I'm also very disappointed with the quality - the gold balls are attached to the star with wires, but many are completely messed up. The wires/balls were sticking out of the star in different directions so I had to thread them back into the star to make it look better assembled. If your family doesn't have a person 6ft tall or taller, your topper will look just like ours. Just a gold star. I wish the product descriptions had all the details - the cord attached to the battery box is about 10 inches long - if you have a tall tree, good luck turning on the lights.
