does its job, writes a little slowly

Neat, worked without problems in the Protectli Mini-PC. This particular 128GB model has a usable size large enough for limited storage space or an uncrowded system drive. In simple unbuffered testing (1MB blocks), I found that it was much slower on writes (128MB/s) than on reads. (487MB/s). As is common with inexpensive flash-based storage, the numbers are likely to change with age ("lower" for writing) and are faster when managed with OS-provided buffering. I consider Transcend to be a trusted brand for consumer flash products and have used several of their SD, CF and flash drives. . In fact, this is a SATA SSD without a case and cable connectors. This makes it slightly cheaper and significantly smaller than a SATA SSD, but not faster. But its small format seems to have caught on with some built-in apps like my mini PC. Recommended if you need mSATA.

Pros
  • Fast replacement
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
