Review on AUDIO Ceiling Surround Speaker Single by Angela Patra

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good diffusers, good sound, everything else is bad.

I was looking for a high quality ceiling speaker at a reasonable price. I used twelve in total for the whole house. I almost bought Pyle speakers for the first floor; until I came across this one. You sound good! Kevlar/carbon fiber (?) speaker membrane with full metal speaker housing. Big. This makes it impossible to connect the speaker wires to the terminals and makes it very difficult to reattach the grilles. I had to partially remove the circuit board on each speaker because one of the four mounting tabs is completely blocking the speaker wire connectors. Also, these bars (by design) don't sit flush with a thin, flexible plastic outer frame, which is annoying. I can use my lowest torque screwdriver to mount the other speakers, but these VM blocks had to be installed by hand with a Phillips screwdriver. I didn't break any of the mounting tabs, but it sounded like I did. I originally installed two ArchiTech SC502E ceiling speakers in the master bedroom and had to buy the same for the six units on the first floor. ArchTech blocks cost $7 more and are worth it. Same speaker and same cutout size, they flush fit, connect, install and sound just as good for that mainstream application – listening to music while having dinner and cleaning the house. I need to buy bigger and better quality ceiling speakers for the theater basement.
