Review on APEX RF 1050 Alkaline Filter Cartridge by Jonathan Lamp

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The taste is great!

I have been using this water filter for about two years now. It's definitely a good deal, way better than paying for alkaline bottled water. The taste is great too. I really can't complain. So why four stars? Two reasons are listed below. Does not remove fluoride. I've looked at Revain and the Apex website and haven't found a replacement compatible with my water filter that will remove fluoride and raise the pH, making it alkaline. I know fluoride is a big deal for some people, but I still resort to this filter every time. For me, this is simply the best value for money. If they could release an update that does both, that would be great. I know Apex usually reads these comments. So if you know one that already exists, please reply with the model number.2. That damn filter is hard to replace. It is impossible to unscrew it from the case with bare hands. I followed the instructions, filled the sink with hot water and poured in some vinegar. I leave it on for 10 minutes. When I tried to unscrew it with the original plastic key that came with the water filter, it wouldn't open. I had to go back to how I used to be. I stuck a screwdriver in one of the holes and used a little force to unscrew it. The problem is that I have a feeling it will eventually damage the case base. I really think Apex could make a better tool if they really wanted to. That would save their customers a lot of problems. Despite these two complaints, I think the water quality is good enough to deserve four stars. It's definitely a great little investment. I recommend this product if I can deal with both of my ailments.
