These cones are great for my dog. However, this is a very small (4 lb) puppy with a short muzzle. I will use them to sterilize them. If you have a small dog AND a long snout I can't imagine this would work for you. It's basically a small and very thin pad. So if your dog has a long snout I can definitely see him reaching over the pad to scratch areas. Generally yes, if you have a SMALL DOG AND SHORT muzzle go for it. If not, try something else. They are cute, but there are more functional ones! UPDATE: I used this for neutering and I liked that the shapes are a bit different. During the day I used peach as it is lighter BUT my pup can still reach if he makes an effort. However, the cone delays it enough for me to stop it. At night I use an avocado or a pineapple to make sure it doesn't get to the cut when I can't tend to it. Overall they worked well during her neutering and kept her comfortable throughout her difficult recovery.
