This lens is an example of why I chose Nikon. It's fair to say that there are issues that detract from the outstanding performance of this lens, but let's remember this lens is fantastically sharp and wide open and consider that. My biggest complaint is the autofocus speed. While older AF-D mechanical drive systems depended on the body's autofocus speed, AF-S lenses have the same speed with all bodies. It's faster than the 50 f/1.4G, which is fairly slow, but it won't win races. It tends to be very accurate, just slow. I did get a few shots out of focus, but I'm pretty sure I clicked before the autofocus system snapped in in very low light. However, this is a fantastic lens.
