These Train-Lo cut Under Armor socks fit just above the ankle and stay in place. I'm glad they aren't too deep. But it may depend on whether you have a foot size of 8 or 12. My son is medium size so they fit great. They're comfortable, body-hugging and have a thick side rather than a thin side, but they're mostly made of polyester (69%) and only 29% cotton. They offer good support around your foot. They wick moisture away from the skin and supposedly control odors, although I can't comment on that as his feet don't usually smell. If you want to leave a left foot sock and a right foot sock, they are marked L and R. Presumably they have some kind of left-right technology? If you mix them up, the UA symbol isn't on the outside of the ankle. UA rarely disappoints, these are good socks and my son loves this brand very much.
