To update. Try LOTS of different cables before you give up.

Update November 24, 2018: I've used this before with many approved 10Gbps USB-C cables (including Google Pixel C and Choetech cables) and Cable Matters 6ft TB3 -Cables in Windows with TB3 and USB C Gen 2 and 2018 Mac Mini with TB3. I always got read and write speeds in the 40MB/s range. I hated this case, but I just used a Cable Matters USB-C cable (IF Certified 1M) and on my new Mac Mini it now tops out at over 800-900MB/s every time with a Mac Mini. Shit, so many cables don't seem to be working properly, but I'm glad it's working now. That and the 1TB 970 Evo is a great solution to the new Mac Mini's overpriced storage options. Original Review: I read the review first before trying this and found that people had more success with the TB3 (20Gb/s) cable. I am using this case with a WD Black m.2 NVME 500GB, Cable Matters TB3 cable (40Gbps) and my dual lane TB3 port on my laptop (20Gbps). It's still as slow as it was on my desktop with a USB-C cable and a USB-C Gen 2 (10Gbps) port. This drive worked fine on the laptop. I got the advertised full speeds. Now it's much slower than my external hard drive) I formatted it as exFAT because I need to use it with two environments. Any ideas?
