I inherited an expensive MultiPure tabletop filter from my sister that attaches to the sink faucet. Pressing the button on the faucet turns the filter line on and off, which is important to know as you cannot run hot water through the filter. It's drag-and-drop because you have to remember it. Also, the whitewater hose on mine got dirty from falling into a pot of spaghetti sauce because there just wasn't a good place to put the filter on the countertop to keep it from happening. That has always bothered me. So when I had the opportunity to choose from several sink filtration systems to review, I finally settled on this one and I'm so glad I did. I didn't think I could handle a larger setup with three or four different filters that need to be swapped out at different intervals. It has a filter that is replaced once a year, as well as an indicator light that lets you know when it's needed. As with the fridge filter, at the beginning of the filter life you press the button and it will tell you when the time is up. When I looked at the cost of a replacement filter ($89.95 at the time of writing this article) I was a little hesitant, but then I remembered that MultiPure replacement filters cost $90, even though you can buy fakes for half that amount be able. I figured well filtered water was worth the cost, and it certainly beats struggling with 5 gallon jugs of water being hauled in a truck. Here's what I really like about this filter: (1) It's so easy to install I was able to do it myself. Just watch the video! Apparently, replacing the filter will be even easier. (2) You just connect the filter to the cold water line, so cold water is always filtered without you having to press a button to turn it on or off. . This can be the reason why the filter is changed after one year when a MultiPure filter is supposed to last up to two years. (3) Hot water is not filtered, so what? I only use the hot water in the sink for washing up, cleaning and mopping the floor. But when it comes to tap water for cooking, making coffee, and drinking, I always want the water to be filtered and cold. So the perfect setup for me. (4) This unit takes up much less space under the sink than reverse osmosis units (with their three or four filters). This is especially important if you don't have a lot of storage space in your house or apartment. (5) And speaking of apartments, we've lived in one, and I know residents are often forbidden to do anything with plumbers. . This device lets you filter the water discreetly because when you know they're coming to check you can just remove the filter until they leave and then put it back on. I can't imagine a local manager having issues with this type of filter as nothing needs to be changed to use it. In fact, it's so easy to put on and take off, you can take it from the kitchen sink to the bathroom to fill water bottles from a cold water closet or bath water source when needed. Or take it with you on a trip!
