Review on πŸ”Œ Cable Matters DisplayPort to DVI Cable: High-Quality 6ft DP to DVI Cable for Optimal Connectivity by Tom Duncan

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Attention, the DP connector housing is too big/thick for some dual monitor computers

Attention, the plastic housing of the DisplayPort connector is too big, I cannot use these cables on my HP ProDesk 600 use G1 Mini because the DPs of the HP ports are very close together. The plastic jacket on the cables prevents two of these cables from being used in the HP DP connectors. It may be possible to file or grind the plastic casing to fit (perhaps as little as a millimeter on each cable casing). I suspect this will be an issue with any of the latest dual DisplayPort mini-PCs that have the ports side-by-side (HP ProDesk, EliteDesk, maybe the newer Dell Optiplex mini-PCs). Also, 3 feet isn't much. two are short as monitors are getting bigger, my monitors (Samsung Syncmaster 2343BW) have a DVI connector on one side of the monitor so 3ft is too short to reach from the other side of the monitor through the cable runs to am other monitor to stand by to my pc. I would recommend a 4-5 foot cable, but the next step is 6 feet. The product description clearly states that it is only 3 feet long. Despite the above two issues, a cable connected to my HP ProDesk 600 G1 Mini works, allowing it to drive one of my Samsung monitors at the full 2048x1152 resolution. Too bad it doesn't work for my dual monitor setup. [edited for spelling, expanded and corrected monitor details] [post edit: I was able to scrape/sand off enough of the plastic case with a file to make the cables fit next to each other, it was only maybe 5 minutes of work]
