Review on Nuance NU462180 Wine Finer by Cathy Khan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great and looks good

Aerating wine improves its flavor really fast. So instead of waiting more than 10 minutes for the wine to steep, just pour it through this aerator and cheer. It really works. It even makes packaged red wine taste better—not like $100 wine, but better. this nuance makes it faster and more efficient. Aeration causes oxidation and evaporation, which in part means reducing the amount of bad compounds in your beverage. The wine may have notes of ethanol; that pungent smell/taste of alcohol. Ethanol is very volatile, so it really shrinks when aerated and releases "good" flavors. This is why the taste of many "young" wines improves significantly after aeration. It won't make a terrible ambrosia wine, but it will make it better. Another great feature of this shade is that it catches drips and pours very smoothly; there are no more wine rings on the table. Also, the mesh catches any sediment or cork floating in your bottle. This is a beautifully designed and finished item. He sits quietly in a bottle. I always run hot tap water (never soap) through for a few minutes after use to rinse away any remaining residue. My hot water is softened in the kitchen to prevent limescale build-up. I expect hard water will start to cause problems after a while, but you can use vinegar occasionally to help remove mineral buildup. For reference, this is the wine aerator recommended by Cook's Illustrated.
