This is the perfect size and weight for crafts or small projects. I used to only use a tape measure for sewing things like this, but it's difficult to flatten the tape enough with both hands to get an accurate measurement and stabilize the project. That helped! I also ordered a set of 25ft bands, but the 25ft bands were too big and too heavy for my belt (although I'm a very small person: 5ft 3in, 115lbs). I've used these little 10ft tapes for a few things before and didn't feel like I needed a longer tape - of course that depends on what projects you're using it for. I use mine for sewing, measuring furniture, framing (art/photos), etc.
