I installed this on my 2012 Jeep Patriot along with a JVC touch screen radio which supports a backup camera. The instructions that came with it are almost useless. I had to remove the inner back panel. Tailgate (2 screws in the lower passenger corner of the tailgate, the rest is held with clips). Then remove the jeep button/license plate light; It is held on by 2 nuts and 2 plastic clips. Remove the original license plate light cover on the passenger side and replace it with a camera. I had to squeeze the video cable/power cord through the hole that the lamp cover snaps into (it's a very tight fit). I connected the red power wire to the red wire of the video cable. I also connected a separate wire to the black (ground) power wire and routed that wire along with the video cable. The extended black wire was connected to my car stereo's ground wire (black) and the red wire, which is inside the video wire, was connected to my car stereo's reverse sensor wire (purple/white stripe) (reversing lights). The video cable simply plugs into the RCA input on the back of the radio. The power cord is long enough to fit through the back door. If you don't want to use an extra wire like I did, you can probably connect it to the rear wiper motor ground wire: do this at your own risk! You can also run a shorter extension cord to the ground point on the frame. The cables went from the camera to the top corner of the driver's side rear door, out through a rubber plugged hole (next to the "trunk"). ), back into the car through the same hole (I cut slits in both rubber caps to allow the wire to go through), down to the taillight, then forward under the side panel to the back seat (had to partially move the panel), then I put the wires in between /put under the upholstery and a carpet to the hood opening lever, from there the cables were stretched under the dashboard to the radio. I used skinning levers and wrenches to remove or partially remove the undercut. With the help of a hanger and a piece of wire, the wires were stretched through the paneling of the rear of the car (the wires were temporarily attached to it with electrical tape).
