Good with reservations!: Tools for diagnosis, testing and measurement

I bought this tool for my BMW. The device gave me access to special BMW codes and was easy to use. I really liked it except that it comes with version 1 software and claims to be a 'version 2' product. I tried accessing the link provided to download version 2 of the software but found that didn't work. I think it's important to be able to update the software on a product like this to keep up with any relevant changes in current or newer models. I sent it back for a refund and bought a different product. I won't mention the name of this product because the censors already rejected my first attempt at verification. All I can say is do your own research. There are several brand specific scan tools for $40 and up, and the prices alone don't indicate what a given scanner is capable of. It is important to consider whether your vehicle requires a "brand specific" scan tool to get more detailed vehicle information. Standard OBDII scanners will work on any vehicle with an OBDII connector, but the information is general rather than specific. I would buy this model again if and when they fix the software issue.
