This stool was purchased specifically for work (hairdresser) to sit at eye level and easily move the stool around my client. The stool came quickly and the assembly is self-explanatory even without instructions. My issue with the design of this chair is that it cannot slide freely in one direction without locking or freezing the casters while moving in a direction other than direction. in the direction it is already moving, creating a potential fall hazard if suddenly stopped. Although solidly built, the wheels are a potential hazard in my opinion. The wheels cannot be replaced with other castors due to the design-related thread size. Needless to say I bought another stool from another company and this stool is being shelved. In my opinion the bottom line for using this chair is that for my purposes it is not safe to sit and maneuver on a stool with wheels.
