I first bought this detergent for heirlooms and quilts. It did such a good job that I now use it for everything including removing food stains from bibs. What you should know: 1. You must follow the instructions. (To cry, don't put it in the washing machine as a detergent additive. It's not.) 2. The water needs to stay warm (leave the bucket in the sun when it's warm outside).3. Most of my cases are resolved in a few hours but some of them have taken 2 days.4. It is intended for natural fibers (cotton, silk, etc.). I've used it on synthetic fibers and it works great on most things, but there are a few things that still hold the stain. Old fabrics are only a breath away from cracking/disintegrating anyway, and when they're weakened (e.g. by soaking in Oxycline) a simple re-soak in water can cause them to crack/separate, whichever one Detergent is present or not. Be prepared that simply submerging your 200-year-old ceiling in water could result in its death. However, I had no problems with it when using Retroclean. But I know it's possible. If the fabric isn't even FULLY colorfast, it will flow and be BAD. Unless you wash it in very hot water, you might not want to use Retroclean. I was trying to clean a white silk garment with a red border. I knew I was taking risks, but I dunked the white in the water and let the red out of the bucket. nope The water turned red and now I have pink clothes. But I knew it was a risk when I started. First you need to wash things. Retro clean does not remove surface oils or odors. It only removes stains.8. After you need to wash things. If you don't do this, you'll end up with dirty streaks where the water has dried. I would also be concerned about leaving the product on the fabric for an extended period of time, but I have no evidence that this could be a problem - just an internal concern. When I first used it I was shocked at how different things looked. when they were made. It was especially magical on age and cardboard stains. I just want him to cum in a huge tub!
