Instructions are sparse but easy to understand. I installed my little Fios remote on this unit which I placed in the top right corner in front of my TV. The small Fios box stays in place with a rubber band that wraps around it and the base of the device. Beware if you have active kids the block can be easily knocked out of the TV as the scissors are squeezed with light pressure, that's how it works. You can use double sided tape or velcro to get a better hold but I didn't want to ruin the finish of my TV. For us it works as intended.
