The entire cleaning process takes less than 5 minutes. Some people recommend soaking items in water if you can't clean them up late - I agree. As for the sound, it's bloody loud. 90 decibels just to start the machine and up to 100 dB depending on what hard fruits/vegetables you are cooking.
