Review on πŸ”Œ NE-SE01-020Q Passive Ethernet Extender Over Coax by Seco-Larm Enforcer by Daniel Warren

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works perfectly when installed according to device specifications.

I was very impressed with the simplicity of these passive converters. I ordered 3 kits to test and installed 2 pairs on site to replace failed active extensions. I extended 1 IP camera (2Mbps) with 200ft RG-6 coax cable and 4 IP cameras (8Mbps) with 200ft RG-6 coax cable and these converters got the data out of the box with no issues synchronized and moved. I installed a third pair on 450ft RG-6 coax to replace another active data converter (6Mbps) of 3 IP cameras and as with the previous site they worked perfectly. I've done some experiments and can confirm that they will NOT work on autonegotiating 1000Base-T switches, even though the RJ-45 cable only has 4 pins, to force 10/100 operation these converters should have a minimum operating rating obtained from 10 ./ 100, since inside the converter there is a circuit board with a minimum number of IC and SMC components. The instructions also state that the length of the RG-45 cable from the converter to the switch and/or device must not exceed 2.10 m. I also encountered an issue where when I connected a converter to one of my working switches without breaking the coax, my switch would behave strangely and drop data until I terminated the connection without realizing what was causing it. I plan to run some tests at max distance to see actual real world performance with RG-6 coax. Pros: Easy integration, no power required, fast synchronization, good data transfer rate (100Mbps at 325ft) (10Mbps at 650ft). ) Cons: Does not work with 1000Base-T Gigabit switches or some 1000Base-T Gigabit devices, Installation of the converter requires less than 2.5m of Category 5e/6 cable between converter and hub /Device removed.
