This loom is solidly constructed of thick plastic with permanently attached pins. When I knit I pull it tight and the pins hold. The swivel heads hold the loops in place but are smooth enough that you can easily re-tighten the loops. The strip this loom produces is about 18-20 inches long. Two strips of this loom of 3 bulky skeins each (6 skeins total) make a good cloak for the shoulders or a nice blanket for the knees. Double this to make a king size quilt. The yarn I use most often is thick (5) and 185 yards or 220 yards long. It's amazing how quickly even a beginner can knit something.
