Review on Overdrive 2 Bike Ratchet Platform Hitch Mounted by Robert Maysey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect! Intuitive design, sturdy, no wobble, easily fits 2 heavy e-bikes

I've been looking for different hitch mounts for my and my wife's e-bikes. We have two electric mountain bikes, one with a mid-drive Yamaha PW-X hardtail and the other with a full-suspension Bosch Haibike mid-drive. These are heavy and expensive bikes and I wanted something safe and durable to transport. The bikes themselves cost about 8 times more than the car we use to transport them. I looked at the Hollywood rack, Thule and others. It seemed like the best value for money. The ratchet appears to be explosion proof. Parts are not cheap plastic. The polymer is strong and almost looks like it's reinforced with fiberglass. Our first bike ride was 500 miles of freeways and rough roads, and the rack did a great job. I saw a user comment about the need to change the vertical support orientation. I have no idea why you would need this unless your bikes have significantly different top tube heights and you plan to put a smaller bike (or one with a lower top tube) closest to the vehicle. As long as you carefully align and load your bikes on this rack, you won't need to make any modifications. standard bike wheelbase adjustments only. I had no problems. The tilting mechanism was also often useful. I was initially nervous about turning 120-pound bikes, but the rack obeyed with no problem. This was extremely helpful when accessing the rear of the car. At first I thought it was some kind of trick, but unfortunately I was wrong. I would recommend this hitch to anyone looking for something that is high quality, durable, well designed and works great.
