It took me a while to figure this out. Taking them apart and putting them back together to wash took a little getting used to at first, but now I've figured it out and I like that they can be thoroughly cleaned. So far I've mainly used them to cut the chicken I cook for my dog into pea-sized pieces for treat training. They work great for this purpose. The only thing I don't like is that stupid useless bottle opener. Designers, please note: When you create the next model, exclude this function. When the scissors are pointing down in the dishwasher, this hard, sharp metal object sticks out. I'm afraid that one day someone in the house will reach over to grab something else and cut their wrist or forearm. Other than that, they're pretty, and while I don't like their rotten green color, it makes them easy to spot when I'm in a hurry.
