The fabric absorbs too little moisture, the floor gets wet and slippery.

I ordered this item because mop covers made in the last 8 years or so are not completely terry cloth and are never completely clean no matter how many cycles I wash them. They are made of 100% cotton and can be easily washed in the washing machine in just one cycle. However, they are not as thick as those made by Schmopp in the early decades, they are thin, do not absorb water well and leave a wet and slippery floor. Also, due to their thinness, they may not last as long. I was expecting a thicker cotton terry.
