I have bought many of these because they are no longer sold at Wally World. I believe the reason they last longer is because the soap doesn't saturate the sponge leaving a former mildew smell. You still have to press the edges of the sponge to scrape the sides of the pots and plates. It was the best price I could find at the time. The sponges themselves have a chemical odor the first few uses and you should set the sponges aside after each use to avoid soap leaking through the hole. I hand wash them before putting them in the dishwasher, although I'm not a very clean person I just can't watch dirty items go into the dishwasher.
