I saved over $100 on a new toothbrush

I've had my Sonicare FlexCare+ toothbrush for 7 years now. Last year the engine started making noise and gradually weakened to the point where it was no longer efficient. I was amazed at how much a new toothbrush costs. I was even more surprised (nice!) to discover that a replacement motor, a YouTube video, and a little patience can get my old toothbrush working like new again. It's been over 2 months since I had a motor transplant and I've had no problems. In fact, I got so used to a weak engine that I had to get used to a strong enough one again! The transplant requires a soldering iron to remove the 2 wires attaching the motor to the board. But it was so easy. I didn't even have to use new solder wire. I just warmed up what was already there, removed the old ones and put new wires in. Voila! The engine I received looks brand new and has an OEM mark. What I don't know is how they supply these parts. The FlexCare+ has been discontinued, so Panasonic is either still making replacement parts, or a third-party vendor in China is reproducing it exactly, or it's undergoing a refurbishment. But that doesn't really matter because for less than $20 I'm back in business.
