I bought this door knob for my dryer that is about 4 years old. At first I couldn't continue. I read somewhere that someone had the same problem and I just scraped a bit on one of the spots you tape inside the dryer door. I just used a bit of a butter knife and my little son helped me rub it gently with my hands and it worked. It should be really easy to install, but since this part was a bit larger it took a few extra minutes. It doesn't look like it will be very strong but it is the same as the original and has lasted about 4 years. Hopefully this will be the case. It would be very profitable for that money. It's a lot easier than trying to open the door with a wire hanger.
