Great easy to install solution for electrical boxes installed under tile or wood paneling

Good easy solution to a common problem of electrical boxes installed under tile or wood paneling (and partly wall panel) and therefore not flush with the surface. Wood panels are combustible, so leaving them open is dangerous; Tile is non-flammable, but often makes an uneven or unreliable surface for mounting outlets or switch terminals. This expansion box solves this problem quite simply. It simply slides into the control box and provides up to 1.5 inches of additional depth. It has large edges that overlap tiles or slabs, eliminating unevenness. It comes with very long 2" screws, but I find them about 1/2" too long for most board/tile needs, so I just keep a couple of 1 1/2" 6/32 screws next to each other . Consists of 2 individual metal boxes that are joined together but not perfectly aligned. As a result, the four screw holes on the extension did not line up with the holes below. It wasn't too difficult to fix - the plastic is lovely, so I just drilled larger holes and expanded them with a 3/16"-1/4" drill bit. It only lasted a few seconds. With newer orders using pre-formed 2-piece boxes, you wouldn't have this problem. Thanks to the other reviewers for two helpful suggestions: (1) Use tin snips to snip off some of the excess plastic depth if you only have 1/2-3/4 inch instead of 1.5 inch for more box room require; and (2) if the switches/outlets are already installed and don't have much cord slack, you can trim one of the side edges (or maybe even both) to allow for installation without having to unplug the cords from the existing outlet. .
