I needed zip ties to temporarily hold a heavy object (caliper) in place while I was doing maintenance on and around it (brake pads and rotors replaced ). ). These zip ties are similar to the shorter ones you're familiar with, but they are wider and thicker (compare their dimensions to other zip ties, except length). They were strong enough to keep my heavy calipers from falling (which could damage the brake lines) and flexible enough for me to manipulate and work with the calipers.
