Review on Diamond K400S NMO Adjustable Antenna Vehicle by Brent Porter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Exactly what I wanted - almost

I have an aging but classic Dodge Ram 1500 Larime that will be passed on to our son later this year. So I didn't want to mark, hammer, or drill the truck to keep it in tip-top shape. So no drilling, no heavy magnetic mounts etc. Nothing permanent or destructive. This bracket was the perfect solution and mounts on the driver's side edge of the hood. Very similar to the hood mounts you've seen for trucks, but much more secure than a piece of metal sticking out of a car in my opinion. This mount is very flexible to help you get as square and vertical as possible. My only complaint is that the hex screw that attaches the antenna mount to the main body isn't tight enough. My antenna is loose. To date this hasn't impacted the performance of the RX/TX but it seems it should be a lot more solid in corners etc. e. Left turns can cause the antenna to be about 30 degrees off vertical, but it always seems to level out. The same Comet mount feels tighter. But since Almaz was NMO and only works, he stays! The thin lead disappears in the bonnet slot and leads into the cab, pushing and pushing against the driver's door insulation, etc. It not only hides, but also has excellent performance. I'm used to spending extra money on LMRs, but this little cable is just awesome! Using Comet 2X4SRNMO VHF/UHF and FTM-300DR to complete the rig.
