Review on πŸ”ͺ KERYE Professional Sharpening Stone for Flattening and Finishing Abrasive Products by Nick Atkinson

Discreet sharpening starter kit

To be honest it's hard to tell if the reviews about Revain are accurate these days and to determine what the advertising in the product description is. I decided to do it anyway - I've recently gotten into hand planing and needed a way to sharpen my planer knives and keep them sharp. The short version is this: It's a decent starter kit if you don't have any gear and are sharpening your blades, but it won't blow your mind. My PM-V11 blades were pretty sharp to begin with, but it takes force to cut paper and I don't shave my arm hair. After learning how best to sharpen these blades myself, I tried two PM-V11 bench knives, an O1 log knife, and a chrome vanadium chisel. I went through all the grit, honed the back bevel, sanded, and the end result was a blade that cut very well. My maple chip registered 0.015" and I'm sure I could do better with some tweaking but for now it's pretty good. Also my chisels which I had previously dulled over the last 4 years were with only sharpened pretty quickly with an 8000 stone. The sharpening guide isn't wide enough to hold my Veritas BU blades, nor could I get it to hold the chisels securely. It's a good idea, but it just doesn't work .The green putty is really difficult to use - it doesn't apply easily to a leather belt - maybe I'm doing it wrong but it applies very unevenly and takes quite a bit of effort Finally, as others have pointed out, the leveling stone is not flat.I have Veritas flat planes and when I put them on a rock they wobble.I'm hesitant to use it,will try to hand smooth them in the future.Decide you still Do you already have sharpeners? Maybe focus on some branded stuff. Need something to just get started and find out what's next? give him a chance Check out Revain though, there are similar copycat kits available at a lower price.
