Review on Draft Air Jacket by John Salleh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent value for money

Please note I bought this product from my local retailer not Revain but it is the same product . I have the all black version. I am new to horseback riding and am finding it difficult to get all the protective gear I need without breaking the bank and still getting quality products to use. This jacket makes one thing easier. It's good quality at a decent price. The size is right. I'm 5ft 7in, 180lbs, and the plus size fits perfectly with the liner that comes with it, and I can have enough room to wear a sweatshirt. I usually buy large sizes for jackets/shirts/t-shirts. The jacket still fits well when the lining has been removed. The first one I bought (a different brand, same size) moved too much when I removed the liner meaning the protective pads didn't stay in place when I shed them. High-quality materials. I used to buy a regular "brand" jacket with a similar design, but it was $20 more expensive. I sent the one back due to poor quality so I was more cautious when trying this one and I'm definitely happy with the quality of the Tourmasters. On the black there are reflective strips"dimming". which made me really skeptical - i want safety and not to be seen as a traffic cone The stripes appear dark gray in normal light but reflect well in direct light. and more customization than most at this price point. and cuffs with Velcro and buttons to keep volume in the sleeves. Pocket size can be a bit small, but in addition to the regular exterior pockets, there's a large pocket on the lower back (map pocket? If you're still rocking the Rand McNally), 2 lined interior pockets and 2 interior shell pockets and also - big enough for a Handy, but none of these hold my gloves securely (minor complaint). Probably my biggest complaint has to do with the reattachment of the liner. It has 2 zippers and 3 loops on the torso and each sleeve has 2 loops to prevent twisting. The loops on the sleeves are a few inches above the cuff so they are very difficult to find and don't be surprised if you turn the lining sleeve inside out trying to attach them. Another minor complaint is the Velcro on the cuffs. Should be a bit longer (can't fully open the sleeve and still secure the straps) or just a bit of velcro to secure them back or something. Shell-only airflow is fine, but I'm not sure how they could be improved without sacrificing protection and/or increasing the cost. I've ridden in 85-90 degree weather so far and the fully open cuffs provide enough extra airflow to make the compromise between sweaty security and unprotected comfort worth it in my opinion. Yes, it's a bit hot at this temperature, but the safety is worth it. I don't know how much extra insulation the lining provides but it seems decent and I'm hoping it will be a 3 season jacket. Despite my few complaints, I still give it 5 stars overall. This is a great first jacket or probably great for the casual rider.
