While certainly not a REAL trio (they start at around $30), this is exactly what I was looking for. Somewhat inexpensive enough that it wasn't a tragedy if lost (it was a gift for my friend who lost his old one), but it was durable (metal construction) and did the job well. Even though it's just a thick lens, there wasn't really much distortion at the edges of the lens. I've never used real triplets, but as far as I know, this is their main advantage - true and accurate zoom with no distortion at the edges of the lens. The case it came with is a cute little leather pouch. Also this magnification (10x) is what you need. Anything higher and it will be too strong. I recommend this product if you are looking for a good working, solid replacement for a real trio. The price makes it more profitable.
