not in the instruction manual. Calling Norcold simply directed me to call an authorized service provider. Research eventually led to the understanding that this switch is a safety device designed to turn off the refrigerator due to overheating, thus preventing a fire and thus a service call. The switch is normally closed and opens when overheated. However, my fridge worked fine when it was off, but displayed a code when I tried to restart it after sitting idle for weeks. Apparently the switch failed while standing, checking with an ohmmeter showed it was open. Then I connected the wires together and the fridge lit up normally to make sure the switch was bad. Reconnecting the wires to the switch reproduced the LI-oP error code. Since I was 100% sure there wasn't an overheating issue, I decided to replace the faulty switch.
