We have 2 different harnesses that clip into our pup's harness. Now she's big enough (26 pounds) to release it by stepping on it. If it had a small metal plate that slides down to cover the seat belt buckle, that would be better. If you have an electric chewer, they will chew it through. It's blasted holes in the one we're using now, but not to the point of being unusable. Love that you get 2 in a pack - I keep an extra one in the car so when she finally swallows the first I have another use case. stopped using this one and went back to this one (she could sit in the back of a headrest style SUV, not this one). It's not perfect, but it's partly due to a very active dog, so your mileage may vary if your dog is more relaxed.
