Review on Topping D10 Balanced ES9038Q2M PCM384KHz by William Chavez

Learned a lot. Stay Tuned

I don't know what to say. First out of the box. pierce. Now I've never noticed a huge difference in my headphone recording, but this thing has benefited from hours of uninterrupted playback. Some sharpness is gone. This is not an audiophile infinitesimal sum. I mean a significant change that got me used to how it sounds for some reason, but I honestly can't say that was all there was. Mine was really jarring for the first few moments I used it, to the point where I thought something was wrong with it. Another reviewer mentioned elsewhere how harsh this DAC sounds. I've learned that this isn't just gibberish about synergy in gear choices. this DAC paired with thx aaa 789 and he-400i is good. a bright sounding DAC with a neutral amplifier that doesn't hide anything, plus headphones with spikes in the high frequencies. I said this is awesome but I really don't have a frame of reference as all the DACs I've heard so far are the latest generation with no better than 90dB Synad. sabaj d3 which has no real line out and old modes 2 uber on one side. Everything is very clear, the bass is very tight and well defined. And the biggest nuance is my hearing. I think some of the harshness I hear "resonates" with my tinnitus. I bought it just in case until I saved up enough to buy a d90se or other DAC of the same level. I really need to hear some other implementations of es9038q2m. Either way, it definitely sounds like a sable duck. This DAC finally made me understand why some people prefer "warmth" over sound in their DACs and amps, when I don't. I know this is a rambling mess, but really, I'm only forming my opinions on this dick on the run. This is the first time I've actually heard how autotune makes vocals sound tight and small, as Rick Beato put it on YouTube. The only thing I know that I couldn't imagine is the initial high-pitched squeak for the first few minutes of using this little guy.

Pros
  • You can connect the D10 Balanced to the input of your headphone amp/amp to make the D10 Balanced part of your HIFI system. D10 Balanced greatly improves sound quality when playing high-resolution files.
Cons
  • There are nuances
