Don't torture yourself

This thing was horrible to put together. I love the end product (Gothic House) but after that I stick with the famous brands. I couldn't understand a kid assembling it alone. I would say thirteen or fourteen is the youngest age that can do it on their own. I had to cut out some parts myself because not all of them were completely punched through. Almost every detail had to be trimmed or sanded in some way. The paint warped the wood and I couldn't put the pieces back together. I had to work hard and was able to hold the pieces together with lots of glue and the help of clamps. Even though I reassembled it, some spots are still concave and don't fit. I had to use wood putty to mend the gap where the roof meets a small spike at the front of the house and cut out part of the joist entirely to fit the large porch. If you buy this crap: don't even try to assemble it following the pictures (instructions). Find a tutorial video on YouTube. DO NOT MAKE ALL THE PARTS FIRST! It's a "puzzle" so they're scattered all over the place and you have no way of knowing what goes where. Wait until you see the video you want, then search for it. If a piece fits, it probably won't go there. Almost all of them needed some sort of trimming or polishing. Make sure you have the EXACT part before gluing it. Some are so similar that they only have an additional hole or differ by a few millimeters. Color deforms wood! Don't paint the piece until you've already glued this piece of wood together. Paint the whole house before adding/decorating balconies or you won't be painting every crack. Looks cool, I'm telling you. This is the first house I built as a dollhouse enthusiast and it gave me experience. Regardless, I will be using the proprietary kit going forward.

Pros
