This was a replacement tank for an existing installation. The previous tank was 5 gallons and took up too much space under the sink. I've never installed this type of setup, but it was easy enough: 1) turn off the water to the reverse osmosis system; 2) turn off the old tank (for this there must be a valve on the old tank, if not, prepare a bucket and a lot of towels); 3) Disconnect (see below) the hose that goes to the old tank (you can do this at both ends but there will be some leakage; also if you don't have an open/close valve on the old tank, disconnect the hose to the end of the tank and into the bucket as soon as possible); 4) Remove the old tank, take it outside, open the valve again, admire the fountain; 5) If you didn't buy a new one, unscrew the valve from the old tank; 6) Wrap a few turns of Teflon tape around the stem of the new tank; 7) Screw the valve onto the new tank and leave the valve in the open position; 8) Insert the new tank; 9) connect the pipe; 10) Turn the water back on and check for leaks. Let it rise to pressure overnight (water flow will be weak until this happens). Note on disconnecting and reconnecting hoses: My setup used push-in fittings and I found that pressing on the small ring surrounding the hose was the easiest way to disconnect them by pulling on the hose. I really needed a third hand or a little pair of pliers. Also, when reconnecting the hoses, make sure they are fully inserted!
