Review on πŸŽ₯ YONGNUO YN360 LED Video Light: Adjustable Color Temperature 3200K-5500K for Perfect Lighting by Sean Young

Great product - with a few caveats.

After seeing someone mention these lights on Reddit and then watching a video review, I decided to grab a few of these along with some batteries and a charger. Everything arrived well packaged and my first impression upon unboxing was that the build quality is pretty good. Sturdy plastic, nothing rattles or dangles, everything is strong enough. The bag that comes with it is also very good and has a carrying strap for easy portability. To get the light working all it took was to insert a battery (yes folks, do some reading and research beforehand; electricity is NOT INCLUDED), switch it on and play with the watch faces. The device remembers the mode last set when you switch it on. So if you turn it off while adjusting the 5500K light, it will use it when you turn it back on. Setting up RGB is a little fiddly, but the RGB indicator on the panel will glow with whatever color you're setting, making things a bit easier. The light output of the 3200K and 5200K LEDs is very strong, while the RGB LED output is a bit weaker (because there are fewer actual bulbs), but still quite usable. It also comes with an orange magnet overlay to warm up the colors of the LEDs, but honestly I would have preferred a neutral diffuser instead. It's a mystery to me why they chose orange. A big plus is the standard tripod mount on the bottom of the device. It's made of metal rather than threaded plastic, so long-term use isn't an issue. The built-in battery indicator shows the battery level (1-9) at the touch of a button. Where these things are really effective is in the application. If you've ever used a Philips Hue system, you'll feel right at home customizing the colors of these wands with the downloadable Bluetooth app. Unfortunately, although the app offers 8 separate control channels and several websites advertise this product with an "8-channel grouping feature”, it is NOT POSSIBLE to control more than one device from one phone. This was my biggest disappointment with these units. I was really hoping to be able to control each light source individually from one device, but strangely that's not the case. I can get by with two phones, each controlling one of the lights, but I don't like the idea of having multiple smartphones each controlling a device, especially when I have more of these things. Overall this is a great product for the price. and I highly recommend it. Just be aware of the shortcomings. Pros: - Excellent performance on 5500K and 3200K lamps - Good carrying case included. - Metal mount for a tripod. - Bluetooth connectivity for convenient control. Cons: - The bluetooth app can only control one light. - Fewer RGB LEDs mean poorer color rendering - Power supply (mains adapter and/or batteries) not included.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Bad experience
