Review on 🍳 Efficient Red Norpro Silicone Microwave Double Egg Poacher by Gabriel Salleh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Yes! It really works!

As mentioned, this is the first microwave egg cooker that actually works! As a bonus, it is the easiest to use and also easy to clean. I've had 3 or 4 microwave egg cookers in the past, some required precise addition of a small amount of water, some would cause the egg to explode if not punctured before cooking. , all of which require at least a modest amount of cleaning before being used for the next batch of eggs. Main features:-) The base is made of not too flexible silicone rubber. It really reduces stickiness, even without the use of cooking spray; Worst case, just hold it under the tap for a few seconds, shake it off and it's ready for the next round.-) Designed with good structural ribs, solid legs and nice handles/eyelets coming out of the center and sides stick out. All of this means it sits flat and won't tip or spill the egg as you move it in or out of the microwave.-) Hard *clear* plastic lid with ventilation holes, center handle. It sits loosely on the base, around a small molded ledge. With its fairly large volume and only gravity holding it in place, it quickly releases vapor pressure from all sides by just rising a little and doesn't fly away like I've seen some other poachers do.- ) Cleans well in the dishwasher or sink. Just place the base sideways in the top rack - otherwise the cracks in the base will collect water instead of draining away during the cycle.-) It actually makes decent moist poached eggs with runny yolks.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank
