Review on πŸ’“ Mio Slice Large Sienna Heart-Rate Monitor by Keith Maynard

Great HR for cardio! Not a very good app

Husband and wife bought it for me. I've been training and running for a while, but I can say I'm part of the majority, not an athlete. I need a heart rate monitor to help me count calories, take heart rate for HIIT, and get regular cardio stats. I tried several devices, but most gave me unacceptable heart rate readings. Over the years I've known myself and the typical heart rate I get from the workout and if I'm doing HIIT and the heart rate is too high you're going to push harder because the readings are going to be inaccurate. I can say that with this device the readings are identical to those of a Polar chest heart rate monitor. Here's a rundown of other details to consider: APP - It took me 4 resets to associate the app because it freezes on setup. I'm using an Android phone and I forcibly quit the app, kept logging in and ignored the update. Once the app is open, reconnect your device and proceed with the update. As for PAI, I don't like it as it doesn't give you detailed information about your cardio, so I suggest installing another app like MapMyFitness and this device works like a charm. Since I use MyFitnessPal for food, it also matches my workout with my best metrics. - Notifications don't work when your app is closed, make sure you tap and minimize it first, don't force close it. HR doesn't work with MapMyFitness either, so make sure you open your APP first (what a bummer, looks like they really want you to use their APP, or could a software fix be pushed to the next version become ?MIO Team?). I started my 8 mile run in 3 hours and my battery is 60%++ charged. Not sure if we can release a software update or maybe because my brightness is maxed out and my display is on for 20 seconds but I think they are needed to improve this even this only takes a few minutes to load . HR, STEPS, GPS - I don't have much to say as I can say with certainty that this is the most accurate device I have tested. The same goes for the GPS, which matches my other trusted app, and even the overall distance guide. looks like it could be slightly damaged or scratched, i received mine with a scratch from good customer service and they sent a replacement. I would love to create a screen protector for this because if you wear it all day there is a good chance it will get scratched. - I don't like that the button is hard to press like it's just connected to a small tactile switch, although functionality isn't affected. I just don't like the feel of clicking it, which makes it cheap, but it's good that navigation is flawless even with this button. - The screen brightness is set to maximum in the application, but still somewhat readable in the sun, although I only look at it for a few seconds, so that's enough for me. This just as a note for others. - Finally, this is a group I don't like because we can't change the color and their current colors are limited. Then the watch tends to slip mid-workout, so I keep making sure it's tight as I want to get the most accurate heart rate possible. I only have one issue with the puff because it lacks the clock clapping style so you have to make sure you hold the puff and push it in to secure. After that, I never experienced it crashing, but I wish they did it like Mio Fuse. Final Thoughts: If you need a good heart rate monitor, get this one. The price is reasonable enough for anyone who can give you accurate dates. If you're an athlete this will still work, but you probably have a better and more expensive device. In my opinion it fits my budget so I will buy my wife a new one.
