Review on πŸ”ͺ Gerber River Shorty Knife: Sleek Black Design for Optimum Performance [30-000967] by Nick Mitchell

Bored then we went to water sports

I had an old Gerber flow meter that lived on my life jacket for years, rubber grip and strong sheath. He has survived countless river to sea fishing trips in my kayak. It was dented and a bit rusty so I decided to replace it with this knife. I like the size and feel of the River Shorty, but it wasn't very sharp when I got it. I have many sharpening tools and I know how to effectively sharpen teeth. So I got it by carefully cutting the paper and installing it on my life jacket. Then, as I was cleaning up after my last walk, I noticed the empty shell on my life jacket. Somewhere along the way, a knife fell out of them. I can get over a not-so-sharp edge, but a PFD knife that can't stay sheathed for a season without a major fall is dangerous gear. It will most likely fail and disappear when you need it most. Spend more and get what's there when you need it.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
