Tried several pairs of Dr.comfort and returned. For an expensive shoe they look cheap, especially with the red stripe - the gray and black stripe looks best. Their custom made orthopedic insoles fit, they are very deep and wide enough and empty to fit in a car. I tried several sizes. I wear the perfect 9 XW in the men's New Balance Fresh Foam 1080V7, a neutral running or hiking shoe, they fit perfectly and hold my insoles well. If you have very thick orthotics and feet that are much wider than 2E (at New Balance), you could consider Dr. Comfort. They probably work best with the insoles that came with them, thin custom orthotics for me - they didn't offer enough cushioning and were too wide no matter what size I chose. They make your feet look like the boxes they came in. Hey, people with sore feet want nice sneakers and grown-up colors. I guess I can say - waste of time - hey, doc - there's no consolation here. Poor fit, rough inner edges - better take prime or don't order - come back at least once or twice. Very disappointed especially the price and I have unlimited money on shoes. It's more of a tall man running shoe - I think it would work for that group. If you are a woman who needs the width of men's running shoes, they are too wide and lack cushioning (if you use your own insoles). I understand that every foot is different but I've tried them on enough to know!
