Our Ford Triton 6.8 V10 blew out the number 3 spark plug after the engine had only run 70,000 miles. After some research we determined that the best system for repairing the spark plug hole with the engine still in our E-450 RV was the Cal-Van Tools 38900 system. We attempted to have a local mechanic fix it using a Dorman spark plug 42025. Thread repair kit, against our better judgment, but we tried to stay on schedule. The repair failed, the cylinder immediately dripped. At least the mechanic reimbursed us for trying to fix it, but without a mechanic using the Cal-Van system, we had to do it ourselves. We used Ron Williams on YouTube to learn all about the setup, Cal-Van was supposed to sponsor this guy, and we bought an inspection camera to complete the job. We also replaced the other nine spark plugs while we had access and tightened the new anti-seize coated plugs to 22 lb-ft. Back on the road and the repair works great! We have complete confidence in this repair system and recommend it as the best method to fix a common problem on Ford Triton 2 valve engines related to burnt spark plugs.
