I had a pair of shoes that needed repairing. The original stitching was torn and that was the only problem. So I went online to see what tools are available. There are many Chinese awls and sets, but not everything. So I decided to bite the bullet and get this expensive Made in USA set. The set contains an awl, 5 needles, 3 bobbins with white, brown and black thread, a key and a very nice instruction. I was able to repair my shoes in no time without any experience. The needles include two #5 straight, two #8 straight, and one #6 curved. I'm not sewing savvy, but all of the needles have a .097" shank and will fit snugly in the collet. You use the included wrench to tighten the collet and it works very well. There is a screw cap on the back of the tool. When you take it off there is a handy pocket to store all the needles and wrenches. The tool has a steel frame, a wooden handle and an aluminum collet and nut. The overall quality is very good and I'm glad I didn't try to save money by buying Chinese instruments.
